"Anything You Can Do"- Opening night celebration of our all women art exhibition

Location: Parlor Gallery

Description: ANYTHING YOU CAN DO….

“While women artists have been involved in making art throughout history, their work often has not been as well acknowledged as that of men. Women artists faced challenges due to gender biases in the mainstream fine art world. They have often encountered difficulties in training and gaining recognition. Beginning in the late 1960s and 1970s, feminist artists and art historians created a Feminist art movement that overtly addresses the role of women in the art world and explores the role of women in art history and in society.”

As one of the only solely woman owned and curated galleries in New Jersey, we’ve decided to attempt to balance the lack of representation and exposure of female artists and present an all women’s exhibit at least once a year. For this show, we will be debuting artists new to the gallery as well as a salon style exhibit of some of our returning gallery artists. Since the exhibit is gender-specific as opposed to curated around a theme or style, there will be a multitude of genres represented in all mediums.

Featured in the main gallery will be artist Teresa Duck, who lives and works in the UK. Her work combines formal realistic painting with abstracted elements through which she explores identity and aspects of contemporary culture. Another artist new to the gallery is local abstract artist Tonya Lee. “My work explores the ephemeral and sublime qualities of nature often becoming “of” an environment instead of about. Form and color negotiating to exist as object and subject. Using both digital and analog methods of constructing compositions, my intent is to explore the aesthetic oppositions of rigidity and gesture.” ~ T.Lee

Parlor Gallery will also have new works from Dahlia Elsayed, Ellen Stagg, Bri Cirel, Dara Vandor, Alexandra Becker Black, Sarah Sandin, Lauren Klain Carton, Rebecca Rose, Erica Levine, Rose Freymouth Frazier, VHS Girl, Indie 184, Michela Martello, DeeDee and Tine Helleshøj.

*Opening Reception: Saturday, June 24th 7-11pm

In addition to our upcoming exhibition, we also have two additional special events. There will be two print releases by DeeDee, as well as the completion of “Under An Asbury Spell”, the mural DeeDee created for the Wooden Walls Public Art Project.

For the first print release, DeeDee will be releasing "Momo"; a signed & numbered edition of 30, in koi red, 1 color silkscreen ink, 8 color spray paint, 22x30" on Stonehenge 250gsm paper for $150. These prints will be available online from on Friday June 23rd at Noon EST.

The second print released will be available exclusively at Parlor Gallery during our "Anything You Can Do..." show on Saturday June 24th 7pm-10pm, a signed & numbered edition of 15 in gold mist, 1 color silkscreen ink, 8 color spray paint for $175.

Description: Rock n' Roll Royalty + Local Hero + Pop Up Shops + Live Music + Grand Design = Transparent at The Asbury

Acclaimed Rock n' Roll photographer, filmmaker and Jersey Shore native, Danny Clinch has taken his life's work and brought it to The Asbury for an exhibition that is unlike any other that has been seen in the city by the sea for TRANSPARENT.

Curated by Danny Clinch and helmed by Tina Kerekes of LVandTK of Asbury Park, the bright glass room on Kingsley Street and Fifth Ave side of The Asbury, features photography, mid-century furniture curated by Tina and vintage Rock n' Roll swag by Sweet Joey. Live music fills the space on weekends features legends and up comers from the burgeoning Asbury Park music scene, making a true community space for artists and art lovers.

'The idea was to create a space where people would want to come and hang out, enjoy the photography, the vibe and some music. In fact we put in a drum kit, some amps and guitars so that if someone comes in and they want to jam, they can. With so many great musicians and music venues in town ya really never know who might show up.' - Danny Clinch

Yappy Hour

Location: The Wonder Bar, 1213 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park

Description: Welcome to Yappy Hour at the WB! Please ‘Like’ our Wonder Bar Yappy Hour Facebook page to get updates about special events, time changes and photos of many of our special guests!

The 2017 Yappy Hour season is here! We are open at noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

For the enjoyment and safety of all, we expect our four-legged friends (and for that matter, our two-legged ones!) to be well behaved and well mannered. Please cooperate with our Yappy Hour staff as we try to create a great time for all.

Dogs must be neutered and have current rabies tag or dog license. Choke, prong and spike collars are not permitted. Please do not bring toys or dog food. Owners are expected to pick up after their dogs. We ask that you be diligent about watching your dog to make sure they are not humping, acting aggressively or getting overheated or agitated. We are extremely aware of the safety and comfort of both our canine and human guests. There is dog security at all times during Yappy Hour. Please respect them, listen to them, and if you are asked to put your dog in ‘time out’ or to leave with your dog, please realize this is for the safety of your dog and all the other dogs and guests.

There are swimming pools for the dogs, as well as an agility area and a special ‘time out’ area for those dogs who need a little time to unwind. This is a separate fenced-in area where the dog and their owner can spend some time getting used to Yappy Hour.

We do have to restrict the Yappy Hour deck to customers 21 and over. We have a fenced-in area with tables and chairs where our guests under 21 are welcome to watch the dogs romp around and enjoy something to eat and drink. This is also the eating area for everyone. It is not fair to the dogs to have food in their special area.
