Europium Dancetheater Presents Vodka Valley, an avant-garde dance theater production performed at Music Mountain Theater in Lambertville on June 30th and July 1st at 7pm.

Vodka Valley is a new, one-act performance that takes a look at the irreverent and unflinching folly of daily life usually reserved for small, quirky river towns much like our own.

Through movement, improvisation, limited words, and musical accompaniment, Vodka Valley explores the emotion and shared experiences of daily living, through several smart, pert, and cheeky moments one many may find oddly familiar and peculiarly relatable.

Vodka Valley is written and directed by Linda Erickson, who has choreographed ballets with members of the New York City Ballet, Dance Galaxy, and the Performing Company of Ballet Classique among others. She previously co-founded The New York Dance Theater with Frank Ohman, The Touring Company of Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefous, and Dance Galaxy with Judith Fugate and Mehdi Bahiri, and is the founder and artistic director of Europium Dancetheater. Her current work is heavily influenced by the late Pina Bausch, whose style heavily shaped the world of modern dance from the 1970’s and beyond.

“I’ve been involved in the world of dance for over 40 years, starting out out in ballet and worked my way through to the avant-garde,” says Erickson. “The freedom to explore that part of life that is usually ignored and sometimes despised and to be able to give it full attention is thrilling to me. Breaking rules can be a wonderful thing."

Several members of Europium Dancetheater hail from professional dance and theater backgrounds including Zane Rankin, who has studied with the schools of Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, and Paul Taylor, as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway theater; Anne Schwantes, who has appeared in CATS, Billy Elliot, and Sunshine Boys, as well as in Walnut Street Theater and Bucks County Playhouse productions; and Leland Schwantes, who was a featured dancer in Bob Fosse’s film All That Jazz, toured with The Alvin Ailey Company, and is currently the Assistant Artistic Director of the Princeton Youth Ballet.

Additional cast members include many local talented artists, musicians, and creative characters including Jack Erickson, Thomas Florek, Lauren Johnson, Pam Johnson, Talin Kenar, Patty Leone, Paul Mirowsky, Andy Prescott, Pat Prescott, Benita Ryan, Stacie Scott, Sonny Sylvester, Joyce Vollmer, with guest appearance by musical guest The Shackers, comprised of Jason Bonthrom, Anthony Flamio, John Flynn, Bill Kershaw, Tim McKenzie, Pat McSherry and Rob Weisenborn.

Music Mountain Theater is located at 1483 Route 179, Lambertville NJ
