The Streetcar Project in association with Asbury Book Cooperative presents Tennessee Williams’ A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE in The Carousel House

FOR THREE NIGHTS ONLY (August 17th, 18th & 19th at 7pm), The Streetcar Project will perform Tennessee Williams’ A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE in the historical Carousel Building on the boardwalk of Asbury Park. In association with Asbury Book Cooperative, The Streetcar Project will provide an experience unique to this space and this play. No one has ever seen “Streetcar…” like this before, and no one ever will again.

A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Asbury Book Cooperative to help with their literacy programming initiatives.

The Streetcar Project is an independent commercial theater producer born and executed by the actors themselves; presenting everywhere but based out of New York City. This project is dedicated to performing Tennesse William’s A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE in unique and unexpected venues. Director Nick Westrate and an ensemble of four astonishing New York Theater Actors (Lucy Owen, Brad Koed, Mallory Portnoy, and James Russell) set out to create a performance of the play like no other. Presenting Tennessee Williams’ complete, unabridged text, with just four performers, no props, and no set. They believe this production can exist anywhere. Their performance strips bare to the bones one of the greatest pieces of American drama.

Asbury Book Cooperative, a community-run independent bookstore and new non-profit, is working with The Streetcar Project to bring their production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE to Asbury Park! The bookstore itself has proven to be not only a literary hub but a place where you can find all mediums of art such as music and dance. Program Director, Jordan Hayes, is eager to continue promoting performance art and fully knit books and reading with these other art forms.
