SUMMARY:Adult One-Time Introductory Classes
DESCRIPTION:Join our one time class to learn the basics of handbuilding! All participants must be at least 6 years old\, and accompanied by an adult if they are younger than 10 years old. \nThere is a $20.00 fee if you would like to keep what you throw. We will then finish and glaze your piece with a color of your choosing\, and your piece will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after your class. We will notify you when your piece is finished\, and we will hold your piece for 1 month after its completion before donating it. Please note that you must clean your wheel and area thoroughly at the end of class. \nThe kiln is an unpredictable place\, and occasionally pieces may not successfully make it through both firings intact. If this happens\, we will work with you to find a fair solution. DESCRIPTION:Discover how sustainability and printmaking come together in this hands-on papermaking workshop. Using recycled paper pulp\, you’ll create handmade sheets that are transformed into one-of-a-kind works of art through linocut embossment. Participants will learn how to pull a sheet of handmade paper\, add color and texture\, then press it over a carved linoleum block to create a beautiful embossed design. \nAlong the way\, you’ll explore the basics of papermaking\, simple linoleum carving techniques\, and how pressure can create raised textures without traditional ink printing.
