Their classic album Paid in Full\, which sampled funk and soul-driven tracks\, was monumental within the hip hop scene and was named the most excellent hip-hop album of all time by MTV. To this day\, Eric B & Rakim remain one of the most iconic duos of hip-hop and are considered pioneers in the culture revered by today’s emcees for furthering hip-hop’s expansion with their unmatched definitive sound.

DESCRIPTION:Nothing goes quite like you plan it\, and the same could be said for oso oso’s fourth full-length\, “sore thumb”. The album is an unexpected and unintentional return-to-form; a capsule of early 2021 when oso’s Jade Lilitri (he/him; vocals/guitar/bass/drums) and his late cousin Tavish Maloney (he/him) holed themselves up at producer Billy Mannino’s (Bigger Better Sun) Two Worlds Recordings. For a solid month\, the three of them practically lived at the studio\, crafting this entire album together in between nerf gun fights and psychedelic trips. The idea was to spend that month writing and demoing\, then take a month off to decide where and who to work with to bring it to life––but everything happens for a reason. \nLess than a month later\, when Tavish suddenly passed away\, Jade knew immediately that he was not going to be touching these songs. DESCRIPTION:The Asbury Park African-American Music Project is pleased to announce that the Dorian Parreott Jazz Quintet will join us for the Vintage Turf Club Show: A Celebration of Springwood Ave. with Live Music at the Turf. \nExtraordinary musician\, educator\, mentor and instrument repair expert\, Mr. Dorian Parreott is a man of many talents and an Asbury Park music legend. Born and raised in Asbury Park\, Dorian began singing in the children’s choir. He started the CuBops and played in talent shows\, the Apollo Theater and auditioned on the Ted Mack Show. While playing with the CuBops\, he started to move towards the saxophone as his main instrument. He attended North Carolina Central and majored in music. While in North Carolina\, Parreott played in a band that performed around North Carolina. After returning to New Jersey\, Parreott worked in instrument repair and taught music at Asbury Park High School for 23 years before becoming a professor at Kean University. Dorian is President of Local 399 American Federation of Musicians and served as president of the New Jersey Music Teachers’ Association.
