SUMMARY:“Grace -N- Grit "~ Michael Longo & Friends Group Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:“Grace -N- Grit” Exhibition Honors the Legacy of Michael Longo: Artist & Friend \nIn a tribute to one of its most cherished family members\, Parlor Gallery presents “Grace -N- Grit\,” an exhibition celebrating the extraordinary life and work of Michael Longo.\nOpening Saturday\, October 26th\, from 6-10 PM\, this intimate showcase brings together Longo’s previously unseen works alongside pieces by 18 artists who shared his creative journey\, perspective and friendship. \nMichael Longo\, who passed away in April 2024\, known for his masterful paintings as much as his magnetic personality at Bond Street Bar\, Longo lived his life as an artwork in itself – full of beautiful contradictions. “He would tuck a small\, delicate flower behind his ear while bartending\, and simultaneously curse and possibly throw someone out for their bad behavior. These contradictions were endless and wonderful\, teaching us to accept all sides of ourselves.” -Jill Ricci (his partner in love and life)\nMichael embodied grace in its truest forms – both as a presence that honored every space he entered and as an expression of elegant\, courteous goodwill. Paired with his remarkable grit – that unwavering courage and strength of character – these qualities defined him\, shining brightest even during his illness.\nHe had many passions aside from visual art\, and he imbued all of them with the same attention\, care and adoration. Life as Art. Even during his battle with Stage 4 cancer\, Longo’s creative spirit never dimmed. When traditional oil paints became too toxic\, he adapted\, turning to gouache and watercolor. When neuropathy made his hands nearly unusable\, he continued creating in whatever way he could. \n“Michael’s development as an artist and person was inspiring. He spent every available moment drawing\, painting\, working on his cars and trucks\, cooking and learning. He kept some of these passions close to his heart\, but when he shared them\, they never failed to impress. Whichever version of Michael you knew or talents he shared with you\, he somehow made you feel important for it. Full of compassion\, creativity\, emotion\, humor\, elegance and vitriol\, he focused it into his body of work that is over-whelming\, awe-inspiring and beautiful.” ~ Pat James Longo \n“Mike was a true creative to his core\,” says Parlor Gallery’s Jenn Hampton. “Even though he has physically left us\, his imprint on Asbury Park and our community will remain. This is the true gift of a Creative: that through their Art and actions\, they become immortal.” \nFeatured artists joining this special exhibition include:\nPat James Longo\nMeghan McAleavy\nSara Stadtmiller\nMatt Crabe\nNeil O’Brien\nPorkchop\nRobert Leecock\nJennifer DiZelfalo\nPuddin Aylward\nRob Santello\nRobert Ryan\nErica Vermilyea\nKristen Vermilyea\nTim Cronin\nSandy Gaestel\nMike Shine\nJason Stumpf\nGary Mellon \n“Grit -N- Grace” opens Saturday\, October 26th. The reception and celebration is from 6-10pm and free and open to the public. \nParlor Gallery is located at 717 Cookman Avenue\, (on the Arts Bloc) Asbury Park\, NJ. \nFor inquiries about the exhibition or artwork and to be added to the Collector Preview\, please contact jill@parlor-gallery.com or juicyjenn@parlor-gallery.com.

SUMMARY:42nd Annual Candlelight Concert and Reception
DESCRIPTION:All Saints’ Memorial Church\, “The Stone Church”\, will host its 42nd Annual Candlelight Concert and Reception on Sunday\, October 27 at 4:00 pm at 202 Navesink Avenue\, Atlantic Highlands. This year’s event will feature Eric Wyrick\, violinist and concertmaster of the New Jersey Symphony; Jonathan Spitz\, celloist\, also with the New Jersey Symphony; and piano soloist and chamber musician Yun Kyung Rachel Choo. The evening’s program will include selections from J.S. Bach\, Debussy\, Mendelsshon and Amy Beach. The church’s historic stone structure\, beautiful stained-glass windows\, and excellent acoustics provide a beautiful setting for the event’s traditional classical program\, making it a popular event during the fall season.\nA reception will follow in the church’s parish house. Tickets are $45 per person and a variety of sponsorship opportunities are available. Reservations can be made online at http://bit.ly/3z1KP46 or call 732-291-0214 for more information.\nEarly in the years of the Civil War\, the Milnor and Stephens families provided the land and paid for the building of All Saints’ Memorial Church in Navesink\, then called Riceville. They chose the architectural firm of Richard Upjohn. Upjohn was well known for his English Gothic Revival church designs and was the architect of Trinity Church\, Wall Street. The church building was consecrated in 1864 and was followed by the construction of the parish house\, barn and carriage sheds\, all of which stand today. All Saints’ Memorial Church was officially designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1988 and is considered a prime example of 19th century ecclesiastical design.

SUMMARY:FANTASTIC CAT
DESCRIPTION:Fantastic Cat returns to Asbury Park for a headline show at the Pony! \nHailed by Rolling Stone as “the supergroup you need to know\,” Fantastic Cat released their debut\, The Very Best of Fantastic Cat\, in 2022. The collection earned the vocal-trading\, instrument-swapping collective their national TV debut\, sold out headline dates around the U.S. and Europe\, a performance at the Sundance Film Festival\, and a song in the Paramount+ series Tulsa King. In 2023\, the velvet-suited four-piece teamed up with all-star producer Butch Walker for a 50th anniversary take on Band on the Run\,” which reportedly prompted Paul McCartney to question his entire life’s work. \nIndividually\, each member of Fantastic Cat boasts their own impressive resume along with appearances everywhere from the New York Times and the Tiny Desk to Bonnaroo and Cayamo. NPR said Anthony D’Amato “sings and writes in the tradition of Bruce Springsteen or Josh Ritter.” Paste declared Don DiLego’s latest album a “stunner.” Rolling Stone called Brian Dunne’s new record “the sleeper album of the year” and praised Mike Montali’s band\, Hollis Brown\, as “the soundtrack for a late-night drive through the American heartland.” \nWhere the band’s debut showcased the quartet as individual songwriters\, their latest\, Now That’s What I Call Fantastic Cat\, finds the group writing collectively for the first time\, leaning into their respective strengths to craft an alternately poignant and absurdist portrait of a modern world populated by disgraced heroes\, disenchanted dreamers\, and dead end jobs. The songs are at once hopeful and mordant\, reckoning with a reality less shiny than it once seemed by refusing to succumb to the weight of disillusionment\, and the performances are relentlessly buoyant to match\, fueled by infectious hooks\, lush harmonies\, and gleefully unpredictable arrangements. Think CSNY if none of them were famous\, or The Traveling Wilburys if none of them were famous\, or the Eagles if they really didn’t get along. \n“A wildly satisfying collection of folk-rock\, country\, Americana\, and good old rock & roll…equal doses of Dylan and Springsteen\,” says Rolling Stone \nDoor 7:00\, Show 8:00 to 11:30\nTickets: $30 Adv plus applicable surcharges/ $35 dos

SUMMARY:Mondo Cozmo
DESCRIPTION:Mondo Cozmo\nwith special guest Jane Leo \nMondo Cozmo\, aka Josh Ostrander\, is a Philly-raised\, West Coast-based rock & roll songsmith. This is for the Barbarians is his third album following his 2020 release\, New Medicine\, and 2017’s Plastic Soul. This is for the Barbarians should be consumed as a singular piece. A complete idea. It has a beginning and an end. It’s a story. It weighs heavy on the death of Ostrander’s uncle while at the same time celebrating life. It’s dark and beautiful. It’s bright and funny. It’s the human experience in a year of isolation. It’s a slice of Ostrander’s liver and a piece of his heart. \n21+

SUMMARY:Yoga with Love-Learn to Read the Tarot (Minor Arcana)
DESCRIPTION:Learn to Read the Tarot (Minor Arcana) with Amy Novack \nTarot cards can help us to zero in on what is truly in our subconscious\, in our hearts. The cards help us to pause\, reconnect and discover our deep truths. \nIn this two-part series\, we will discuss how to:\n•	Establish a connection to our decks and our intuition\n•	ground ourselves before and clear after a reading\n•	use different spreads to assist your reading \nPart I – will focus on the Major Arcana. These 22 cards represent archetypal images and energies\, they are the cards that are not suited. They represent the major twists and turns in your life. \nPart II – will focus on the Minor Arcana. There are 56 Minor Arcana cards which are divided into 4 suits. We will delve into the suited cards which focus on the current challenges and opportunities you face on a daily basis. \nIf you have a deck please bring it and a journal. There will be decks to use but it is nice to have your own\, and there will be homework between classes! \nThursdays 6:30–8:30pm\n•	Part I- Major Arcana 10/17/24 -$45\n•	Part II- Minor Arcana\, 11/14/24 -$45 \n417 Euclid Ave.\, Loch Arbour\, NJ 07711 1-848-777-2942\nyogawithlovenj.com

SUMMARY:King Buffalo
DESCRIPTION:King Buffalo\nwith Ben Katzman’s DeGreaser \nKing Buffalo is the trio of vocalist/guitarist Sean McVay\, bassist Dan Reynolds\, and drummer Scott Donaldson. Since forming in 2013\, the self-proclaimed “heavy psych” band has made its name via 4 Full-lengths\, 4EPs\, and tours with Clutch\, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats\, All Them Witches\, The Sword\, and Elder.\nWritten and recorded by the band with mixing and engineering by Sean McVay and mastering by Bernie Matthews\, the seven-song outing is the third in King Buffalo’s stated ‘pandemic trilogy\,’ following Two of 2021’s Best Albums in The Burden of Restlessness and Acheron. \nBoth of those albums – like 2018’s Longing to Be the Mountain\, 2016’s debut\, Orion\, and the various EPs and other offerings they’ve made over the last eight years – made bold declarations about who King Buffalo are as a band\, and Regenerator is no different. As McVay\, Reynolds and Donaldson continue to explore the outer reaches of modern psychedelic songcraft\, melding progressive rhythms\, drifting atmospheres and accompanying surges of electricity\, the new collection only further establishes them as one of the brightest lights shining in underground rock today. \nAs the third of three\, Regenerator seems inherently to tie together the two LPs most immediately before it\, and as King Buffalo unfold the leadoff title-track across nine and half minutes\, it becomes clear just how truly they have marked out their own sonic presence. The later melodic highlight “Mammoth” – with McVay’s most confident vocal yet – shimmers with hope that somehow doesn’t come across as desperate\, and as “Hours” engages classic space rock and the closing “Firmament” summarizes the first\, second and third series installments\, the final chapter of this trilogy becomes the essential cornerstone of King Buffalo’s work to-date. \nThe band returned to live activity\, touring alongside Clutch and more recently a full North American spring tour with Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats. By the time Regenerator arrived\, they completed a UK and European headlining tour with festival appearances in Germany\, the Netherlands\, Austria\, Switzerland\, Portugal\, Belgium and Denmark. \n21+ admitted
