Dogs In A Pile\, a band of five twenty somethings with old souls and limitless chops\, is waking people up to the timeless and ineffable joys of psychedelic-tinged jazz-funk rock n’ roll. \nThis is one of the busiest touring bands of today\, averaging 130 live shows per year since 2022. The road has become their creative engine\, generating a rapidly growing catalog of original tunes. Distroid\, the band’s newest album\, is a 10-song collection featuring long-awaited studio versions of some of the Dogs’ most beloved repertoire. \nDogs In A Pile is guitarist Jimmy Law\, guitarist Brian Murray\, keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan\, bassist Sam Lucid\, and drummer Joe Babick. In addition\, the Dogs In A Pile community includes the Dog Pound\, the group’s extended family of fans across the country. \nBesides being a lyric from the Grateful Dead song\, “He’s Gone\,” the name “Dogs In A Pile” is an apt description of the five-piece band’s stylistic breadth. The sonic image it conjures is a heap of storyteller Americana\, bluegrass\, jazz improvisation\, eccentric instrumental excursions\, pop-rock sophistication\, and deep-pocket grooves\, ranging from funk to Latin to reggae and beyond. \nDistroid features material that has already become staples of the band’s live show. These studio renditions have afforded the group a chance to present the compositions just how they envision them. For six weeks this summer\, we are running a Summer Fundraiser to support our community programming and general operations\, as well as to purchase books for the annual Asbury Park Summer Backpack Drive. \nWhat is a nonprofit organization (NPO)? \nAs a nonprofit\, ABC operates under a self-sustaining business model. That means that every dollar you spend in the store or donate to ABC goes directly to supporting our mission. \nIn addition to sales and donations\, we also support our work through grants\, ticketed events and  fundraisers\, memberships\, volunteer hours\, used book donations\, corporate sponsorships\, major gifts\, and community partnerships. \nWhat’s the Summer Backpack Drive? \nThe Summer Backpack Drive is an Asbury Park institution. Hosted by our wonderful partners at Community Karma\, each year it provides thousands of local school kids with backpacks and supplies to start the new year. \nThis will be our 3rd year partnering with Community Karma. Our goal is to distribute more than 1\,000 books at the end-of-summer block party — but in order to do that we need your help! \nWhat else does my donation support? \nIn addition to supporting our general operations and the Asbury Park Summer Backpack Drive\, your donation helps us continue to provide a variety of free community programming\, including visits from local authors\, concerts\, workshops\, poetry readings\, wellness events\, and book giveaways. DESCRIPTION:MATISYAHU\nSummer Tour 2026 \nCreativity is like a fire in a fireplace: You have to tend it or it will go out. For nearly two decades\, Matisyahu has kept his creative spirit aflame by evolving his sound\, melding genres\, and testing the limits of the musical traditions that have inspired him. His latest release\, Hold The Fire\, and its leadoff single “Fireproof” takes inspiration from a fire dream inspired by Matisyahu’s Old Testament religion\, which has meant so much to his spiritual and creative life since his recording career began in 2004 and his breakout track “King Without a Crown” blasted into the Billboard charts in 2005. In a roundabout way\, those same Old Testament roots springboarded Matisyahu’s music career. \nGrowing up outside New York City\, the young Matthew Miller followed jam bands like Phish and the Grateful Dead. Then\, in Bob Marley and reggae\, he found that the messaging of Rastafarianism was sourced in part from that same Old Testament. The sound that emerged on his first albums—including his first two studio releases as well as 2005’s Gold-certified Live at Stubb’s—embraced both the spirit of reggae and his spirituality and roots in Judaism. Buoyed by hits like “King Without a Crown\,” albums like the Grammy-nominated and Billboard No.1-ranked Youth in 2006\, and the Gold-certified 2009 antiwar hit “One Day” (streamed over 150 million times on Spotify alone)\, he toured extensively through the second half of the aughts with a high-energy stage show that has since grown to include more improvisation. All the while his music expanded into a shapeshifting collision of reggae\, hip-hop\, alt rock and boldly inventive pop. Today\, he continues to be inspired by evolving musical trends\, finding linkages and loops between eras and genres. Matisyahu’s spirituality has evolved in parallel with his music\, though his Jewish heritage remains a central theme throughout his life and music. The new EP\, Hold The Fire (out February 2024)\, also finds him reflecting on celebrity and artistic success. For Matisyahu\, “the unbelievable and miraculous feeling of being connected to our people” is what keeps the creative fire alight.

DESCRIPTION:Start the week by making something together. Little Makers Monday is a special art experience created for children ages 4–7 and their grown-ups. \nEach Monday\, families will explore a new project designed especially for young artists. A certified art educator will introduce the materials and guide children and caregivers as they paint\, build\, collage\, experiment\, and create side by side. \nCome anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and plan to spend approximately 1–2 hours creating together. \n$35 for one child and their grown-up\n$22 for each additional child \nAll materials are included. This is a shared family experience rather than a drop-off class. Every child must attend with a participating parent\, guardian\, or caregiver. \nEach Little Makers Monday features a special project developed for young children. Our certified art educators will introduce the project\, demonstrate the materials\, and provide support throughout the experience. Children are encouraged to make their own creative choices\, while their grown-ups help\, participate\, and create alongside them.
