SUMMARY:BOOK EVENT presentation and signing - Steven Ives\, Even After Always
DESCRIPTION:Author Steve Ives Book Presentation and Signing for Even After Always \nSteven Ives was born in the Bronx. After spending his early childhood in New York City\, his family moved to Fair Lawn\, New Jersey\, where he spent his early adolescence. After reading far too much beatnik literature in his teenage years\, Steven took off at age twenty\, armed with a mostly broken-down car\, an already obsolete typewriter\, and maybe the best cassette tape collection on earth\, in the vague but idealistic hope of discovering the meaning of life and writing the Great American Novel. He spent the better part of the next decade driving around the continent\, occasionally settling down in places as disparate as Colorado\, Oregon\, California\, Iowa\, Florida\, and Montana. He got in a lot of trouble and somehow always managed to get out of it. He wrote tens of thousands of pages\, which he hopes mattered at some point to someone. In his thirties\, Steven returned to New York City. Years later\, he’s still there. Currently\, he lives and bartends in Greenpoint\, Brooklyn\, and still writes a ton. He’s working on a new novel he’d love to talk your ear off about. Anyway\, that’s Steven’s past and present. As for the future? Well\, time is a curved line and\, after all\, anything can happen.

SUMMARY:Sandy Mack’s Wonder Jam
DESCRIPTION:Sandy Mack leads a stellar rotating house band for two long sets of classic rock\, jam and blues with plenty of good ol’ Grateful Dead! Live music starts early at 4:20 with special guest openers and surprise guest musicians.\nTo the Jersey Shore music fans\, he is an ambassador of everything good about our music scene whose presence is familiar as a favorite club or neighborhood watering hole. To his fellow music makers\, he’s the go-to man for all manner of sessions and sitting-in situations — a blues harp ace who can stake out harmonious common ground with acoustic old-schoolers\, supercharged ax slingers\, roots rockers and alt-Americana songsmiths alike. Or\, as local radio linchpin Rich Robinson said\, “he could sit in with anybody like he’s played with them forever.”\nSandy Mack is the ultimate ringmaster of a weekly ritual that rivals any family’s most cherished Sunday-sauce tradition. The Wonder Jam 2025 returns with an extended fanbase of musical regulars\, guest players\, fans\, friends\, and always interesting cast of Asbury Park characters now known as the “Jamily.” Join us when Sandy Mack’s Sunday Jam comes home to the Wonder Bar! \n$10 in advance plus applicable surcharges\, $10 at the door\n21+\nDoors open 3 pm

SUMMARY:Bit Brigade
DESCRIPTION:Bit Brigade performs rock covers of full NES/SNES game soundtracks as their gamer speedruns the game live on stage. \n“When was the last time you attended a live music performance with a genuine element of risk involved? And no\, going to a Gwar show with a white t-shirt on doesn’t count. When Bit Brigade takes the stage your mind will frantically oscillate between “Oh! Agh!! Please don’t die!!” and “YES! He’s doing it!!” Combining the dread and daring of a live video game speed run with the spot-on technique of a live band covering the musical accompaniment to everything you’re seeing on-screen in real time\, Bit Brigade will have you swinging between the two mediums. From thrashing about to live renditions of your favorite stage themes\, fingers yearning to the sky in a rock ‘n roll parody of sea anemones seeming to silently plead\, “Please\, feed us more fretboard pyrotechnics!\,” to being locked in stock-still rapture as the infallible maestro of the d-pad\, Noah McCarthy\, takes on the final boss and risks his video game life under the threat of intense peer scorn (or the reward of night-long glory and a credits score). No matter the outcome\, Bit Brigade must play on until the deed is done – which it always is – on the first (and last) try. Once Noah’s NES buzzes on\, there’s no turning back.” – Metalhead Mike of The Shizz\, summer 2011 \n$20 in advance (plus applicable surcharges)\, $20 at the door \n21+

SUMMARY:Sensational Soul Cruisers
DESCRIPTION:The Sensational Soul Cruisers are not just another 11-man vocal harmony group with horns. While it is still sometimes possible to find a band featuring a similar line up of instruments\, it is unlikely that you will ever find another that performs with as much energy\, passion\, and talent as these guys. From their humble beginnings rehearsing in Freehold Borough at the chicken coops on Route 33 to the basement of the Cycle Shop on Throckmorton Street\, this band has come a long way from its “Eddie and the Cruisers” days to become one of New Jersey’s best kept secrets.\nUnder the tutelage of legendary Jersey Shore sax player Screamin’ Steve Barlotta\, who has been the captain of this fantastic soul cruise for over 30 years\, who has catapulted this band from the recesses of a dingy basement to over 200 performances a year while capturing the true essence of the Jersey Shore sound and its true R&B roots. Fortunately for those of us that feel that the sound of classic Philly Soul\, Motown\, Disco\, Stax\, and the music of The Temptations\, Four Tops\, Earth Wind & Fire\, Chicago\, The Trammps and other such groups was and still is some of the best music ever recorded or played live\, there will be plenty of chances to see the Sensational Soul Cruisers perform this year and for many years to come. While the band travels to and plays concerts in theaters\, clubs\, public festivals\, and private events throughout the country\, they will be spending quite a bit of time up & down the east coast this year.\nOver the past 3 decades the Soul Cruisers have been fortunate enough to grace the stage with many great artist from Bruce Springsteen\, Little Anthony and The Imperials\, Gloria Gaynor\, Gary US Bonds\, John Cafferty\, Southside Johnny\, The Emotions\, Bon Jovi\, Smokey Robinson\, Stevie Wonder. As well as being the long time favorite house band at New York City’s famed Copacabana. \nDoors 7:00 pm\nShowtime 8:00pm \n$20 in advance (plus applicable surcharges)\, $25 at the door \n21 and up
