SUMMARY:Congratulations to the Asbury Park Fire Department! 🎊🚒
DESCRIPTION:Asbury Park\, NJ — The City of Asbury Park is proud to announce that the Asbury Park Fire Department was honored as the 2025 Central New Jersey Outstanding Community Partner of the Year by the American Red Cross New Jersey Region. The award was presented at the American Red Cross Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday\, December 10\, 2025. Fire Marshal Tawheshia “Tee” Gates attended the event and accepted the award on behalf of the department. \nThe recognition highlights the department’s strong leadership\, dependable partnership\, and steady commitment to public safety. The Red Cross noted the department’s ongoing collaboration on the annual MLK Day of Service Home Fire Campaign\, where firefighters and Red Cross volunteers work side by side to install free smoke alarms\, share fire safety information\, and help protect residents throughout Asbury Park. The next Home Fire Campaign initiative will take place on Saturday\, January 17\, 2026. \n“We are grateful for this recognition and for our ongoing partnership with the Red Cross\,” said Fire Chief Kevin Keddy. “Every smoke alarm installed and every family reached through this campaign makes our community safer. Our firefighters take that responsibility to heart.” \nCity Manager Adam E. Cruz thanked both the department and the Red Cross for their commitment to residents. “The Fire Department shows its dedication to public safety every day\, and this award reflects the value of that work. We appreciate the Red Cross for being a steady and trusted partner in our shared effort to protect the people of Asbury Park.” \nMayor and Council congratulate the department on this honor and thank the Red Cross for its continued partnership with the City.

SUMMARY:🎥 🎬 Movie Night Fundraiser Screening - Christmas in Connecticut at the Showroom Cinema 🎅🏻🍿
DESCRIPTION:Movie Night with The Showroom Theatre will be held on Wednesday\, December 17th at 7:30pm. \nThis annual fundraiser to support The Center in AP returns with the 80th anniversary screening of Christmas in Connecticut. Huge thanks to Daria\, Royce\, and Michael\, at The Showroom\, for their community spirit each year. Below is a little about this classic movie: \nWhile recovering in a hospital\, war hero Jefferson Jones grows familiar with the “Diary of a Housewife” column written by Elizabeth Lane. Jeff’s nurse arranges with Elizabeth’s publisher\, Alexander Yardley\, for Jeff to spend the holiday at Elizabeth’s bucolic Connecticut farm with her husband and child. But the column is a sham\, so Elizabeth and her editor\, Dudley Beecham\, in fear of losing their jobs\, hasten to set up the single\, childless and entirely nondomestic Elizabeth on a country farm. \nA timeless film\, a great cause and a festive evening…come early to join in with The Center’s holiday carolers\, and a sweet surprise\, thanks to Purple Glaze for their delicious donuts. 🍩

SUMMARY:"Lightning in a Bottle: A Love Letter to Asbury Lanes" Book Signing & Events
DESCRIPTION:“Lightning in a Bottle: A Love Letter to Asbury Lanes” is more than a photobook — it is a testament to one of Asbury Park’s most iconic eras. For over a decade\, photographer Mike McLaughlin served as the unofficial “keeper of the Asbury Lanes’ memories\,” instinctively documenting the music\, the misfits\, the staff\, the artists\, and the rare magic that lived inside the Lanes’ walls. His camera became an extension of him\, allowing him to preserve a community and a creative universe that no longer exists. Through more than 100\,000 images captured over 11 years\, McLaughlin offers a visual archive of a beloved cultural landmark — a collective fever dream shared by those who called the Lanes home.\nThe spirit of The Lanes comes to life the weekend of December 19-20th! Gallery openings\, gatherings\, and the triumphant return of the legendary Guilty Pleasures Dance Party (IYKYK) will mark the release of this 400-page photographic love letter\, hosted by Mt Crushmore Records\, Parlor Gallery\, and Mike McLaughlin. \nSATURDAY\, DECEMBER 20 Book Signing & Artist Talk12:00 PM – 2:00 PM\nMeet the artist\, purchase signed copies of the book and prints from the book. A rare gathering and chance to reconnect with fellow Lanes regulars\, staff\, musicians\, and friends.\nParlor Gallery 717 Cookman Avenue\, Asbury Park\n\nArtist Talk at The Showroom Cinema2:30 PM – 4:00 PM\nLightning in a Bottle comes to life on the big screen at the Showroom Cinema.
