Pick a design\, learn the basics\, and walk out two hours later with something handmade and genuinely impressive. \nWe’ll cover: \n\nHow to safely use a wood burning pen\nBasic mark making techniques including lines\, shading\, and texture\nHow to transfer a design pattern onto wood\nHow to finish and care for your board\n\nNo experience necessary. All materials included. Due to the nature of the hot pen this workshop is recommended for ages 16 and up.

SUMMARY:"Vibrant" - A Colorful Art Exhibit Opening Reception at art629 Gallery
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday evening\, May 9 from 7-9pm\, art629 Gallery\, located at 629 Cookman Avenue\, Asbury Park\, NJ\, will host an opening reception featuring the work of 16 artists curated by Brittany James. Brittany is a local artist who has been the resident art teacher and curator at art629 for the past 10 years. \nThis exhibition examines the expressive and symbolic role of color\, ranging from abstract expressionism to contemporary photography. It explores how colors and hues convey emotion\, identity\, and cultural meaning through the vibrant works of 16 artists from New York\, New Jersey\, Pennsylvania\, and Connecticut. Most of the artists will be attending the opening event and light refreshments will be served. \nColor affects mood by influencing emotions\, behaviors\, and physiological responses. Warm colors like red\, yellow\, and orange are stimulating and can increase energy and appetite\, while cool colors like blue\, green\, and purple promote relaxation and reduce stress. this exhibition is intended to create an emotive response to the artworks presented. \nAccording to Brittany\, “It has a been a long\, cold and gray winter. I think we could all use a little color and vibrancy in our lives right now ” \nThe exhibition will be on display until June 21.
