DESCRIPTION:Being Your Own Best Friend -with the Venerable Bhante Sujatha Thursday\, March 12th 6:30-8:30pm\, $40 I believe people are so unhappy because they try to understand what is happening out in the world and outside of themselves. What is the nature of friendship? Our friends are those who we depend on; who we look to in order to belong\, who we wish to help in their time of need\, and who we seek for comfort and counsel. We spend so much time trying to invest in our status and our relationships in order to find fulfillment\, and in doing so we frequently forget our own well-being\, or put our own selves at the bottom of our list. In my experience\, whether the relationship is with a family member\, spouse\, or friend\, these still exist outside of our inner world\, and no dissatisfaction can be completely resolved from the outside. To find true peace and happiness we must start working from the inside out; we must understand our true nature and work to create peace inside ourselves. It is only when we can be a noble friend to ourselves\, that we can be a noble friend to another. There is no way out but in. Join me\, Bhante Sujatha\, in this 2-hour workshop for an open conversation about our habit of seeking outward gratification\, and the path to discovering our inner value in order to learn how to authentically love ourselves and become our own best friends.

We will look out for wading birds\, songbirds\, and anyone else who is in the area. \nBirding is for everyone. All are welcome on our friendly and respectful Beachy Birder Adventures! \n​We will meet at Atlantic Square Park and then head to Sunset Lake. We will walk for about two miles. Please dress for the weather\, wear closed-toe shoes\, bring water\, layers\, snacks\, a hat\, and binoculars if you have them. We have five pairs of 8×25 birding binoculars for you to borrow as needed\, and we will have a spotting scope to look through as well. \nOur outings are rain or shine but in the event of extreme weather we will reschedule for a more enjoyable experience. The event will be held in the Thompson Park Activity Barn\, 805 Newman Springs Road\, Lincroft\, from 1 pm to 4pm. \nProceeds will benefit various aspects of SPUR’s therapeutic horsemanship program. The SPUR Board of Directors raises monies for need-based SPUR lesson scholarships for individuals with disabilities\, funds horse purchases and horse retirements\, and provides other material assistance to the Monmouth County Park System for the implementation of SPUR programs.\nThe afternoon will be filled with music and line dancing instruction provided by BTK Entertainment.
