Brunch with Krampus starts at 10:30 am! \nKrampus Asbury Park began in the 2010s as part of a broader cultural revival in the city’s downtown\, blending folklore\, art\, and community into a winter festival that felt distinctly Asbury. Organized by local historian and event producer Kathy Kelly — known for The Paranormal Museum\, Paranormal Books & Curiosities\, and a long history of inventive cultural programming — Krampus Asbury Park took a European folk tradition and gave it a New Jersey soul.\nThe goal wasn’t to import a gimmick but to reinterpret Krampus for a town that already thrived on contradiction: elegant and gritty\, historic and modern\, joyful and strange. The festival’s early years centered on a Krampuslauf — a procession of costumed Krampuses marching through Cookman Avenue — along with music\, art\, and independent vendors. It was equal parts folklore and street theater\, designed to bring life to the winter season and highlight the creative community that fuels Asbury Park year-round. \nBe good or else! 👹

DESCRIPTION:This poetry writing course is an in-person six week series at the bookstore starting on Friday\, November 6th 6pm-7:30pm. \nThis is a wonderful chance to work on your craft\, develop your voice\, get professional feedback from published authors\, workshop new pieces\, and revise already existing work. Led by published authors\, Jim Capozzi and Emmalea Russo\, this is an opportunity to connect and grow with a small group of poets\, refine the work on the page\, and get tangible resources and input to help get your poetry in the hands of readers. \nA few things to note: \n\nThere is a suggested donation of $75 for the full six weeks. These funds will go directly to the professional instructors that are dedicating their time to develop a quality course to help you grow and thrive in your art.\nIt is encouraged to commit to the full six weeks. This class is limited to 15 students in order to create an intimate envorinoment and allow time for individual attention. Not attending every class does take away opportunity from other poets interested in the course.

DESCRIPTION:Fungkshui is Asbury Park’s hometown “American Improvisational Rock Band.” Fungkshui has developed an unbreakable chemistry showcasing their seamless grooves and segues. Combined with their mesmerizing hooks and mind shattering peaks\, Fungkshui is a band that is ready to guide any lover of live music into their next uncharted musical journey. Fungkshui is excited to be recording their second studio album backed by non-stop touring into the New Year. This is Fungkshui’s first holiday show at the Pony and they band is totally stoked to share the stage with Octave Cat.\n\nOctave Cat is a trio of Eli Winderman (Dopapod – keyboards)\, Jesse Miller (Lotus – bass/modular synth) and Charlie Patierno (drums). The music ranges from stripped down jazz-grooves to analog synth dance music. Influences such as Herbie Hancock jazz-funk and Four Tet electronica can be heard. Octave Cat pushes the jazz and jam boundaries by incorporating elements of electronica and in doing so they have carved out their own unique musical space. \nThis is a special co-headline event with both bands playing a full set. Expect some intense musical interludes from both bands with the energy from this powerful pairing at the Pony.
