Position Summary:
The Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)6 non-profit organization, is seeking a dedicated and organized Assistant Director to support the Executive Director in managing daily operations, fostering community engagement, and driving membership growth. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong communication, event planning, and administrative skills to contribute to the success of the Chamber and the local business community.

Key Responsibilities:
Membership & Community Engagement
Support the growth and success of the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce by engaging with local businesses and members.
Maintain and update membership listings on the Chamber website.
Create and manage content for the Chamber’s social media accounts, including member spotlights, event promotions, Facebook event pages, and direct message responses.
Develop and execute email campaigns in Constant Contact to promote Chamber events and member activities
Website & Digital Presence
Keep the Chamber website updated with current information, including events, membership listings, and Chamber-related announcements.
Coordinate with the web developer to resolve any website issues.
Event Planning & Coordination
Assist in the planning and execution of Chamber signature events, including but not limited to:
Asbury Park Restaurant Tour
AsburyFest
Carousel Awards
Wine Tours
Organize and manage monthly networking events, including venue coordination, Eventbrite ticket tracking, and on-site registration.
Administrative & Office Management
Manage day-to-day office operations, including answering phones and responding to emails.
Attend Board of Trustee Meetings and Asbury Park City Council Meetings as needed.
Oversee the Asbury Park Boardwalk Bench Plaque Program, handling communication with purchasers, plaque orders, and installations.
Desired Qualifications:
Event planning and customer service experience is highly preferred.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), and event software (Eventbrite).
Experience with Constant Contact, Adobe Creative Suite, and QuickBooks is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Highly organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a diverse community.
Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
Reliable personal transportation and the ability to carry event materials (signs, supplies, etc.).
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Frequent bending, standing, and sitting.
Ability to visually review correspondence and work on a computer.
Lifting requirements typically under 50 lbs.
Occasional evening and weekend hours required for events.
