Asbury Park, NJ — The City of Asbury Park is proud to announce that the Asbury Park Fire Department was honored as the 2025 Central New Jersey Outstanding Community Partner of the Year by the American Red Cross New Jersey Region. The award was presented at the American Red Cross Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Fire Marshal Tawheshia “Tee” Gates attended the event and accepted the award on behalf of the department.
The recognition highlights the department’s strong leadership, dependable partnership, and steady commitment to public safety. The Red Cross noted the department’s ongoing collaboration on the annual MLK Day of Service Home Fire Campaign, where firefighters and Red Cross volunteers work side by side to install free smoke alarms, share fire safety information, and help protect residents throughout Asbury Park. The next Home Fire Campaign initiative will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
“We are grateful for this recognition and for our ongoing partnership with the Red Cross,” said Fire Chief Kevin Keddy. “Every smoke alarm installed and every family reached through this campaign makes our community safer. Our firefighters take that responsibility to heart.”
City Manager Adam E. Cruz thanked both the department and the Red Cross for their commitment to residents. “The Fire Department shows its dedication to public safety every day, and this award reflects the value of that work. We appreciate the Red Cross for being a steady and trusted partner in our shared effort to protect the people of Asbury Park.”
Mayor and Council congratulate the department on this honor and thank the Red Cross for its continued partnership with the City.
